WHAT HAPPENS HERE
Raw water is drawn from a surface water source (river, lake, or reservoir) or groundwater (well). Screens remove large debris β€” leaves, fish, sticks β€” before water enters the treatment train.
⚑ KEY EXAM POINTS
1
Bar screens remove objects >10mm
2
Fine screens (0.5–6mm) remove smaller debris
3
Intake positioned to minimise algae and contamination
4
Flow monitoring begins at this point
πŸ“‹ ONTARIO REGULATION
O. Reg. 170/03 requires continuous monitoring of raw water turbidity, pH, and temperature at the intake point.
